Advocating the implementation of the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with
Disabilities in Croatia
The Association for Self Advocacy, in cooperation with the Association for Promoting Inclusion, the Human Rights Center and UNDP Croatia, launched a project which advocates the implementation of the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities in Croatia.
The project includes several activities focused on advocating for and accelerating the implementation of the Convention in Croatia.
Self advocates from Zagreb, Bjelovar, Osijek and Slavonski Brod will receive training about the Convention and human rights. One of the results of this training will be the production of a brochure on the Rights guaranteed by the Convention in easy to read form, making the text of the Convention accessible to people with intellectual disabilities.
Within the project activities the Croatian translation of the Convention and it's influence on the lives and position of people with intellectual disabilities in society will be analysed. The results of this analysis will be presented to the public at a Conference held in May 2009 in Zagreb to mark the first anniversary of the Convention entry into force.
